Mirsarai correspondent, Chattogram. With the aim of increasing agricultural production, improving irrigation systems, and preventing waterlogging, a significant canal was cleaned and renovated through voluntary labor under the initiative of Mirsarai Upazila Krishak Dal, following the directives of Nurul Amin, MP of Chattogram-1 (Mirsarai). On Saturday the program was held in a major agricultural area of 2 No. Hinguli Union in the upazila. Ashraf Uddin, President of Mirsarai Upazila Krishak Dal, and General Secretary Saiful Islam Faruk, directly participated and led the canal cleaning activities. They were joined by Shahadat Hossain Mishu Bhuiyan, Organizing Secretary of 2 No. Hinguli Union Krishak Dal,along with a large number of leaders and activists of Krishak Dal from both upazila and union levels. For a long time, the canal had been filled with silt, weeds, and garbage, which disrupted water flow. As a result, irrigation in the surrounding farmland was being hindered, and there was a risk of waterlogging during the monsoon season. To alleviate the suffering of farmers and keep agricultural production active, the decision was made to clean and renovate the canal through voluntary labor. Leaders present at the program said, Agriculture is one of the main foundations of Bangladesh's economy. To reduce farmers' production costs, make irrigation easier, and increase crop yields, it is essential to keep canals, drains, and reservoirs functional. With that goal in mind, Krishak Dal has implemented this public welfare initiative. They further said, Alongside political programs, such social and development activities for the welfare of the common people will continue in the future. We urge everyone to work together to protect farmers' interests, maintain environmental balance, and build a sustainable agricultural system. Upon hearing about the canal cleaning program, leaders of Hinguli Union BNP rushed to the site to encourage the activists. They praised the initiative, saying, Such activities for agriculture and public welfare will serve as a positive example for society. Local farmers and residents also welcomed the initiative. They said that with the long-neglected canal now cleaned, water flow will return to normal, irrigation facilities for farmland will increase, and the risk of waterlogging during the monsoon will be greatly reduced. The canal cleaning and renovation work was successfully completed through the spontaneous participation and collective efforts of Krishak Dal leaders and activists.
