A new horizon in religious education and humanitarian assistance has opened up in the Chittagong Hill Tracts as the "Nure Madina Hafijia Madrasa and Orphanage" was officially inaugurated in Mahalchhari, Khagrachhari, overcoming a long period of inactivity. To mark the occasion, the Mahalchhari Zone of the Bangladesh Army organized a free medical camp, distributed medicines, and provided special relief assistance to local orphan students and underprivileged residents.
The inauguration took place on Tuesday (August 4), with Lieutenant Colonel Al Jabir Asif, PSC, Commander of the Mahalchhari Zone, attending as the chief guest to formally open the institution.
After remaining closed for a long time, the facility was brought back to life following completion of its construction under the personal initiative and close supervision of the Mahalchhari Zone Commander. Alongside the grand opening, cash donations were handed over to the madrasa management as part of the zone’s ongoing humanitarian assistance. During the accompanying medical camp, specialist doctors provided free healthcare services and medicines to local patients, while relief items were distributed among helpless families.
In his address as the chief guest, Lieutenant Colonel Al Jabir Asif stated:
"The Bangladesh Army has always stood by the general public in promoting religious education, moral values, and social welfare. Such development initiatives focused on education, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance in the hill tracts will continue in the future."
The event was attended by special guests including Md. Anwar Hossain, President of Mahalchhari Upazila BNP, and Mohammad Ali, President of the Mahalchhari Central Jame Mosque. Teachers, students, parents, local public representatives, religious leaders, and members of civil society were also present.
Speakers highlighted that the army's initiative serves as a bright example of dedication to religious education and the welfare of orphans and underprivileged children. They expressed hope that through collective effort, these benevolent activities would have a far-reaching impact.
