Youth League Leader and Former Upazila Parishad Chairman Released on Parole to Attend Mother Funeral.

In Nilphamari, Shahid Mahmud, General Secretary of the District Jubo League and former Upazila Parishad Chairman. was released on parole to attend his mother's funeral. On Tuesday (August 4) at noon, he was released on parole from Rangpur District Jail and at 2:30 PM he attended his mother's funeral prayer at Nilphamari Dakbanglo Circuit House Eidgah Ground. It is learned that the Jubo League leader's mother, Rowshan Ara passed away last night at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Today at noon, after being released on parole, he came under police security for 5 hours to attend his mother's funeral. After the funeral prayer at Dakbanglo Circuit House Eidgah Ground in the town, he was taken back to Rangpur District Jail. Regarding this, Jillur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station said, "He has been released on parole for 5 hours to attend his mother's funeral. Additional police have been deployed across the town to avoid any kind of disorder." For reference, Jubo League leader Shahid Mahmud is an accused in five cases, including two murder cases, following the events of August 5, 2024. He was arrested on the night of September 7, 2025 from a rented house in Dhap Lalkuthi, Rangpur city.
