Discussion and Prayer Held in Mirsharai to Mark July Mass Uprising Day.

Jewel Nag, Mirsharai,Chattogram. A discussion meeting and prayer ceremony were held at the Mirsharai Upazila Conference Hall on Wednesday, August 5, to commemorate July Mass Uprising Day. The event was organized by the Mirsharai Upazila Administration in honor of those who sacrificed their lives during the July movement. The program was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Somaiya Akter. It began with a one-minute silence as a mark of respect for the martyrs of the July uprising, followed by a discussion on the significance and legacy of the movement. Among the speakers were Officer-in-Charge of Mirsharai Police Station Farida Yasmin; Sub-Inspector Abdullah Al Masud, representing the Officer-in-Charge of Jorarganj Police Station; Upazila Agriculture Officer Pratap Chandra Roy; Upazila Fisheries Officer Arifur Rahman; Upazila Education Officer Rozina Rahman; Secondary Education Officer Ferdous Hossain; Convener of Mirsharai Upazila Press Club Mahbub Palash; Mirsharai Press Club representative Anwar Hossain; and July student movement representative Mirzada Sohel, among others. In their speeches, the participants highlighted the historical importance of the July Mass Uprising, describing it as a powerful reminder that no government can sustain itself through force. They emphasized that the movement stands as a significant example of the people's struggle against the suppression of democracy and freedom of expression. The speakers also expressed hope that Bangladesh would never again witness the curtailment of democratic rights and freedom of speech. They called for a peaceful, prosperous, and welfare-oriented nation where citizens can live in harmony and dignity. The program concluded with a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs of the July movement. All attendees paid their deepest respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
