The local BNP boycotted the Upazila administration's event after elected independent MP for Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, Rumin Farhana, was made the chief guest. No BNP leader or activist was present at the program. Regarding this, Rumin Farhana said, "BNP will have to accept that people voted for me and made me an MP. BNP has to accept this harsh truth." The discussion meeting was presided over by Sarail Upazila Executive Officer Md. Saiful Islam. Others who spoke at the meeting included Sarail Upazila Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Enam Khan; Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Mohammad Nizam Uddin; and Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station, Monjur Kader Bhuiyan. On the ban on broadcasting Sheikh Hasina's speech, Brahmanbaria-2 MP Barrister Rumin Farhana said, "The media is not just 26 channels. Nowadays, everyone has media in their hands. Those who want to listen will be able to. In this way, no one's speech can be stopped from being broadcast. During Sheikh Hasina's time, we saw that Tarique Rahman's speech was banned from being broadcast. It was banned by a court order. If that was not democracy, then how is this democracy?" On Wednesday (August 5) at noon, at the end of a reception and discussion meeting organized at the Sarail Upazila Parishad auditorium in Brahmanbaria on the occasion of July Day, she made these remarks in response to a question.
