Masum Hawlader, Bagerhat. In Sadar Rajoir village, Ghontaghata Union, Sarankhola Upazila, Bagerhat district an attack was carried out at a footballer’s house on August 5, 2026 at around 9:30 PM reportedly over a dispute following a football match. The victim is Uzayer Hossain Sajib a footballer and 2026 HSC examinee, He told correspondent Masum Hawlader: My father has been working in Dhaka for 10 years. We two brothers and my mother live at home. I am the youngest in the family. Yesterday, after the football match, while I was coming home from the field, 4-5 people suddenly attacked me at the base of the well-known bridge at Rayenda Bazar Kheyaghat, I was kicked and punched, but I ran and somehow made it home. My mother was not home, she was at my maternal grandparents’ house. I locked the front scissor gate and stayed inside. At around 9:30 PM Unknown a group of 20 to 25 people led by Elias, son of the late Khalil Mia from Sarankhola Govt. Degree College intersectionalong with Miraj, Shipon and others, armed with local weapons and sticks, broke the boundary gate in front of our house and entered. Hearing the noise and seeing weapons in their hands, I opened the back door of the house and ran to a neighbor’s house to save my life. They were shouting and broke the lock of the scissor gate, entered the house, smashed the almirah, showcase, and trunk, and kept shouting and abusing. They said if they found us they would cut us into pieces and throw us into the river. Sajib further told _The Daily Bangla Sky_ correspondent Masum Hawlader: "My mother was not home. Later when Elias and his group left after vandalizing, my mother came home and saw the almirah broken, the trunk broken, and all the furniture in the house smashed. From the big trunk they looted a 12-ana gold necklace and 7-ana gold earrings, belonging to my mother, worth about 3 lakh taka currently, along with 75,000 taka in cash that my father had sent for house repairs. And they kept saying they would cut my two brothers into pieces and throw us in the river. That’s why we can’t go home. To my knowledge, all of this happened at the instigation of *Masum and Khadem Milon & Abul Boati in Ranoir*,leaders from the Pach Rastar Mor area of Sarankhola Upazila. My father is in Dhaka. I informed him and he spoke with the UNO of Sarankhola Upazila over the phone and sent video footage. My father also spoke with the OC of Sarankhola Police Station and sent the video footage. We are under threat to our lives and cannot go to our home. In this situation, I seek the administration’s help through you. My football is on hold and my studies are disrupted. My HSC exams are over, but government-declared exam was postponed due to weather and is scheduled for August 15. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sit for it. Through you, I am asking for the administration’s support and proper justice for the attack, looting, and vandalism by the miscreants.
