Masum Hawlader, Bagerhat. Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, said, We do not believe the Awami League is fit to return to politics right now. Because it was they who killed this country’s politics. They established a reign of terror. They emptied the laps of countless mothers, countless people were made to disappear, and not all of those who were disappeared have returned yet. In this situation, the Awami League will come back to politics again! By changing their skin, whatever. This is tragic for the nation. Rather, their provocations continue at every moment. A party like this that killed, that disappeared people, that went against an entire generation how can I take them into my party just to make the party bigger, without any remorse? This is very unjust, a heinous crime. Action will be taken against those who do this. Regarding Sheikh Hasina’s return to the country, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, Even though there is a prisoner exchange treaty, the government knows why it is not bringing Hasina back. But we believe the government should bring Hasina back on its own responsibility. She needs to face trial. He made these remarks as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with journalists and media workers at Bagerhat Circuit House auditorium on Friday, August 7, at 10:30 AM. On the issues of killings and violence across the country, the senior politician said, The responsibility to maintain peace and order in the country lies with the ruling party. In this regard, the ruling party itself must take steps. But for a long time we have seen that violence starts from the side of those in power. There is no place for physical exercise in politics. Since the birth of Bangladesh, we have seen the exercise of muscle power in politics. It was not free in any era, not free in anyone’s time. In response to journalists’ questions about media freedom, party leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, Those who want to exploit people in a fascist manner, their biggest tool to silence people’s voice is to interfere with the media. Even now you cannot say the media is fully independent. Every government has shouted that the media is completely free. I did not believe it even once, and I still don’t. But it needs to be free. On the rise in prices of gas, electricity, fuel, and 'ghost bills, Ameer-e-Jamaat Shafiqur Rahman said, People’s lives have become miserable over the gas and electricity issue. Even the Speaker himself said there is no electricity in his area. For the last two months, ghost bills have started coming. You didn’t use it, yet the bill doubled. Those who speak about this are again being threatened by the ministry. Why are they doing this? This shouldn’t happen. Regarding the government’s success, failure, and the future, the senior politician said, The people will judge the ruling party’s performance over 5 years. The country will be run for 5 years, and the opposition will also have 5 years. Now let the ruling party say whether the government is a failure or a success. And the people are already saying it. The exchange meeting was chaired by Bagerhat District Jamaat Ameer Moulana Rezaul Karim Present were Bagerhat-1 MP Principal Md. Mashiur Rahman, Bagerhat-2 MP Sheikh Manjurul Haque Rahad, Bagerhat-4 MP Principal Abdul Alim, District Jamaat Secretary Sheikh Muhammad Yunus. and media workers. Later, the Ameer-e-Jamaat spoke as chief guest at the Rukon Conference of Jamaat-e-Islami at Bagerhat Ali Madrasa, After the Rukon Conference, the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, joined party leaders and activists to perform Jummah prayers at the UNESCO World Heritage Sixty Dome Mosque.
