MIRSHARAI, CHATTOGRAM: Industrialist Fakhrul Islam Khan, CIP, a distinguished son of Mirsharai, Founder and President of the Bangladesh Expatriate Welfare Association (United Arab Emirates), has renovated the long-neglected Baraiyarhat–Shantirhat Road in Jorarganj, Mirsharai, using his own funds. According to local sources, the road had remained in poor condition for several years. Large potholes and damaged sections caused severe inconvenience to commuters, transport operators, and local residents. After learning about the situation, Fakhrul Islam Khan personally financed the repair and renovation of the most damaged parts of the road. Local residents said they had been waiting for a long time for the road to be repaired, but no effective initiative had been taken. They expressed their gratitude to Fakhrul Islam Khan for undertaking the work out of a sense of social responsibility. Following the renovation, both pedestrians and vehicles are now able to travel much more comfortably. Din Mohammad, Manager of Khan Kallyan Trust, said that the road is an important route connecting Baraiyarhat and Shantirhat Bazaar. During the rainy season, mud and large potholes made travel extremely difficult. He thanked Fakhrul Islam Khan for reducing the suffering of local people through this initiative. He also noted that Fakhrul Islam Khan has consistently been involved in humanitarian and welfare activities. Recently, he extended assistance to flood-affected families and called upon affluent members of society to stand beside people in need. Md. Mia Khan, a CNG auto-rickshaw driver, said he regularly transports passengers between Baraiyarhat and Shantirhat Bazaar. He explained that poor road conditions had made daily travel difficult for a long time, but the recent repairs have made commuting significantly easier. On behalf of the CNG drivers' association, he expressed sincere thanks to Fakhrul Islam Khan, CIP. Local residents hope that the relevant government authorities will take steps to undertake a permanent upgrade of this important road, ensuring safe, smooth, and sustainable transportation for the community in the future.
