A discussion meeting on improving the quality of education was held in Mirsharai, Chattogram, with the theme, “We Believe in Improving the Quality of Education.”
The meeting was organised at Baraiyarhat College on Thursday morning, where teachers and other stakeholders discussed various issues, including enhancing the quality of education, developing students’ talents and ensuring the overall development of the educational institution.
Didarul Alam Miazi, president of the Baraiyarhat College Governing Body and popularly known as the “People’s Mayor,” attended the meeting as the chief guest. Teachers of the college, members of the governing body and local leaders were also present.
Speaking as the chief guest, Didarul Alam Miazi said there is no alternative to improving the quality of education. An educational institution cannot progress through good academic results alone; instilling morality, discipline, humanitarian values and patriotism among students is equally important.
He stressed the need to further strengthen coordination among teachers, guardians, students and members of the governing body to ensure quality education.
He further said that, to equip students with modern and up-to-date education, greater emphasis should be placed not only on classroom teaching but also on technology-based learning, extracurricular activities and moral education.
He said necessary initiatives would be taken to transform Baraiyarhat College into a modern and quality educational institution.
At the meeting, teachers said that ensuring students’ regular attendance was essential alongside teachers’ sincerity and sense of responsibility in improving the quality of education.
They also emphasised the importance of engaging students in information technology and creative learning instead of limiting them to textbooks, particularly in the context of today’s highly competitive world.
The teachers further said that regular academic activities should be complemented by debates, cultural programmes, sports and various extracurricular activities to help students develop their talents and creativity.
They called upon teachers, guardians and the college governing body to work together in this regard.
During the discussion, the teachers presented their views on various issues, including improving the academic environment of the college, increasing student attendance, improving examination results and developing the institution’s infrastructure.
The speakers said the development of an educational institution should not be limited to infrastructure development alone. Ensuring a safe, pleasant and quality learning environment for students should be the primary objective.
They called upon all concerned to play responsible roles from their respective positions to achieve this goal.
Local leaders, members of the Baraiyarhat College Governing Body, teachers and other concerned individuals attended the meeting.
