National Fisheries Week 2026 Observed in Rajapur,Jalakati.

Rajapur, Jalakati,Correspondent, With the theme A Self-reliant Country in Silvery Fisheries, Bangladesh First, the three-day National Fisheries Week - 2026 was inaugurated in Rajapur, Jhalokathi. Today Sunday, 16 August at 11:00 AM, the program was inaugurated with a colorful rally, discussion meeting, prize distribution and release of fish fingerlings. The event was organized by the Upazila Administration and Fisheries Office. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Rajapur Upazila Executive Officer Rifat Ara Mouri, The Chief Guest was Rafiqul Islam Jamal MP, Member of Parliament for Jhalokathi-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia) constituency. Special guests present ncluded, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Goutam Mondol, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Abdullah, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mosa. Shahida Sharmin Afroze, Senior Vice-President of Rajapur Upazila BNP Abdul Haque Nantu, Convener of Rajapur Upazila Jubo Dal Md. Masum Billah Parvez, Convener of Upazila Swechchasebak Dal Ratan Debnath, Convener of Upazila Chhatra Dal Shakhawat Hossain Rabbi, Member Secretary Rafiqul Islam Mridha, and *Md. Forhan Hossain, Personal Assistant (PA) to the MP, among others. In the discussion meeting, speakers called upon fish farmers and fishermen to play a more effective role in increasing fisheries production, practicing modern fish farming methods, and enhancing the contribution of the fisheries sector to the country's economy. Fish farmers, fishermen, public representatives, journalists from print and electronic media working in the upazila, dignitaries, and people from various professions from different areas of the upazila were present at the event. Later, three best fish farmers of the upazila were awarded commemorative honors for National Fisheries Week.
