Four people, including women, were killed in a tragic road accident when a pickup truck overturned on a dangerous bend of the Rangamati-Chittagong highway. Two others, including the driver, were critically injured and are currently undergoing treatment.
The incident took place around 5:30 AM on Sunday (August 16) in front of the Manikchhari Army Camp under Sapchhari Union in Rangamati Sadar Upazila.

Meghrani, Shantana, and Shanti Ranjan died on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, army personnel and police, with the help of locals, rescued the victims and rushed them to Rangamati General Hospital. As Shobha Chakma's condition deteriorated while under treatment, doctors referred her to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries en route.
The severely injured driver, Gyan Bikash Chakma (50), and another passenger, Suman Chakma (45), are currently undergoing treatment at Rangamati General Hospital.
Dr. Shawkat Akbar, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Rangamati General Hospital, stated that out of the six individuals brought to the hospital, three were already dead. Another victim passed away on the way to Chattogram in critical condition.
