Neglected Seed Store in Sonagazi, Feni.

Jahangir Alam, Staff Reporter ​The traditional seed store of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Ahmedpur village under Amirabad Union of Sonagazi upazila has virtually turned into a garbage dump. Plagued by sheer negligence and continuous waste dumping by local residents, the dilapidated structure is now completely unusable, depriving hundreds of local farmers of modern agricultural facilities. ​According to local farmers, the facility once regularly distributed high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and various government agricultural incentives. However, over time, the authorities' extreme apathy has left the building in a miserable condition. Some unaware locals have turned the area into a waste disposal site, severely polluting both the interior and the surrounding environment of the building. ​Farmers of Ahmedpur village stated that the scope of agriculture in this region is vast. Without a functional union-level seed store, they are facing immense hardship in accessing essential agricultural services and expert advice. The aggrieved farmers have strongly demanded that higher authorities take immediate measures to remove the garbage, renovate the dilapidated infrastructure, and restore the facility's operations for the benefit of the local farming community.
