Former Gournadi UNO Israt Jahan is the DC of Rangpur.

Former Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Gournadi Upazila of Barisal has been promoted from Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs to Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur. On Wednesday (August 19) night, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration appointing new Deputy Commissioners in three districts. In this, Israt Jahan, who was in charge of the post of Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was promoted as the DC of Rangpur. She (Israt Jahan) served as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Gournadi Upazila from August 6, 2019 to November 22, 2020 and before that, Kaukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Pirojpur District with good reputation and efficiency. According to sources, the then Upazila Executive Officer Israt Jahan won the hearts of the people of Gournadi by providing services and conducting administrative activities at the field level, risking her life, during the severe Corona pandemic in 2020. In addition to discharging her duties with honesty, she was also involved in creative activities. Due to which, the people of Gournadi adopted her (Israt Jahan) within a short period of time.
