Senior official inspect various canals-rivers in Fakirhat,Bagerhat.

In the Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat, a delegation from the safe water supply project across the country, including the Deputy Project Director of the Department of Public Health Engineering, Mostafizur Rahman, visited various locations and held discussions with locals to address the issues of safe drinking water scarcity, modernisation of drainage systems, sanitation, and waste management. On Saturday (22 August) at 11 am, the delegation held discussions with locals at the Fakirhat Dakbangla to identify various problems, including the scarcity of safe drinking water. At this time, the Executive Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering, Bagerhat, Jayanta Mallik, Assistant Engineer of the upazila, Md. Aminul Islam, and various other officials were present. Later, the senior officials inspected various locations, including the Moragang, Katakhali canal, and the Bhairab river flowing through Fakirhat Sadar in the Piljong union of Fakirhat upazila. Also present during this time were Kafil Krishna Mondal, the nominated candidate for Member of Parliament in the 2026 national elections from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the Bagerhat-1 parliamentary constituency, Sheikh Kamrul Islam Gora, President of the Fakirhat upazila BNP, General Secretary Sheikh Shariful Kamal Karim, and others. After the inspection, Deputy Project Director of the Department of Public Health Engineering, Mostafizur Rahman, listened to the locals about water and various problems and assured them of necessary initiatives for their resolution. He said the government is focusing on purifying river-canal water for easy supply by reducing pressure on groundwater.
