Bodies of Four Family Members Recovered from Locked House in Rangpur.

Police recovered the bodies of four members of the same family, including a former teacher of Rangpur Zilla School, from a locked house in the Machuapara area of Rangpur city. The bodies were recovered after police broke open the lock of the house on Saturday (August 22) night. According to local residents, a foul smell was coming from inside the house on Saturday evening. They informed the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of the four family members after breaking open the lock. The deceased were identified as Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel (65), a former teacher of Rangpur Zilla School; his wife Pritilata Chakraborty (50); their daughter Parthi Chakraborty (24); and their son Piyam Chakraborty (12). After retiring from teaching, Ganapati Chakraborty ran a homeopathic treatment chamber at his residence. His daughter, Parthi Chakraborty, was studying for her master's degree at Carmichael College in Rangpur. His son, Piyam Chakraborty, was a fifth-grade student at Rangpur Zilla School. Police said Ganapati Chakraborty's body was found on the roof of the two-story house. The bodies of his wife and daughter were found on the staircase, while his son's body was found inside a room. Members of the CID Crime Scene Unit, metropolitan police and Detective Branch are working at the scene. The bodies are being prepared for transportation to the morgue for autopsies. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Sumit Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police (acting) of Rangpur CID, told journalists that, based on the condition of the scene, the incident is believed to have occurred two to three days earlier. Preliminary evidence suggests that it may have been a robbery. The victims may have been strangled to death with towels or pieces of cloth. He further said that the electricity connection to the house had been disconnected. In addition, places in the furniture where gold ornaments were usually kept had been broken open. However, the actual cause and circumstances of the incident will be known after a detailed investigation.
