Calls for Responsible Role of Social Organizations Alongside the Government.

Chattogram Divisional Social Services Office Director Mohammad Shahidul Islam has called upon social organizations to play a responsible role alongside the government in implementing various initiatives undertaken for the socio-economic development of the people. Director Mohammad Shahidul Islam visited the Sitakunda Upazila Social Services Office at 10:00 am on Sunday (August 23). During the visit, leaders of the Sitakunda Upazila Social Welfare Federation paid a courtesy call on him. Among those present were Sitakunda Upazila Social Services Officer Lutfun Nessa Begum; President of the Upazila Social Welfare Federation Lion Md. Gias Uddin; Joint General Secretary MOH Kaiyum; Information Technology and Research Affairs Secretary Md. Sohel; Agriculture, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Master Iqbal Hossain; Tourism and Recreation Affairs Secretary Mohammad Akter Hossain Mamun; Cultural and Sports Secretary Architect Shahidul Islam; Executive Members Abu Jafar Mohammad Sadeq, Md. Omar Faruk and Md. Abu Taher, along with officials and employees of the Social Services Office. On behalf of the Sitakunda Upazila Social Welfare Federation, Director Mohammad Shahidul Islam was welcomed with flowers. During the meeting, federation leaders informed the director that, as part of the government’s tree-planting program to protect environmental balance and address the impacts of climate change, the Sitakunda Upazila Social Welfare Federation has already planted and distributed 50,000 saplings through 300 organizations and institutions. The leaders also briefed the director on the federation’s various social, humanitarian and environment-friendly activities. Appreciating the organization’s ongoing initiatives, Mohammad Shahidul Islam advised the federation to continue its public welfare activities. He said social organizations can play an important role as a supportive force of the government in serving the people. Through collective efforts, it is possible to improve the living standards of disadvantaged communities and build a beautiful, humane and environmentally friendly society.
