People of Sarail Suffering from Load Shedding, Gambling Going On with Electricity.

Taslima Khandaker Nusrat Sarail, Brahmanbaria. Amid intense heat, the people of Sarail Upazila in Brahmanbaria are in distress due to power outages. According to consumers, a "gambling game" is going on with electricity here. There is no certainty about when it will go and when it will return. And even if it goes, there is no news of it coming back. For the past several days, load shedding of up to 10 to 12 hours a day has been occurring in various unions of the upazila. There is no relief in the morning, afternoon, or night. Children, the elderly, and patients are suffering the most. There is no sleep due to the heat, and business and commerce have also collapsed. Sarail Bazar businessman Abdul Kader said, _"The power goes but doesn’t come back. Costs are rising by running IPS and generators. But where will ordinary people go? It has become like a gamble."_ Housewife Rokeya Begum said, _"We can’t cook, the children are falling sick due to the heat. We can’t sleep at all at night. Even when we call the electricity office, no one answers."_ Locals allege that although demand has increased due to the intense heat, supply has not. Also, line faults are not repaired quickly. As a result, people have to stay in darkness for hours. Attempts were made to contact the officials in charge of the Sarail Zonal Office regarding this, but they made no comments. The victims demand that load shedding be reduced immediately and regular power supply be ensured. Otherwise, they have threatened to launch a strict movement.
