Jahangir Alam, Staff Reporter. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) arrested three alleged drug traffickers with 25 kilograms of cannabis during a drive in the Kajirhat Market area under Sonagazi Upazila in Feni on Tuesday morning. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around BDT 2.5 lakh, according to official sources. The arrestees were identified as Maijul Haq Babu, 37, son of Shafiullah of Mangalkandi village; Anu Uddin alias Sohel, 38, son of the late Shafiq Majhi of Adarshagram village; and Nur Alam, 24, son of Mominul Haq of Aurarkhil village, all under Sonagazi Upazila. RAB-7 sources stated that, acting on a tip-off regarding a large consignment of cannabis stored on the third floor of a market owned by local betel nut trader Mofiz Uddin, an operational team conducted a raid in the area around 8:30 AM. Noticing the presence of the law enforcers, Maijul Haq Babu and Anu Uddin Sohel attempted to flee but were apprehended on the spot. Based on information disclosed during initial interrogation, RAB personnel moved to search the third floor, where they chased and detained Nur Alam as he tried to escape down the stairs. During the search of a storeroom on the third floor, officials recovered five bundles wrapped in blue polythene and khaki-colored adhesive tape containing a total of 25 kilograms of cannabis. RAB-7 confirmed that a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed, and the arrestees, along with the seized drugs, have been handed over to Sonagazi Model Police Station. Law enforcement agencies emphasized that anti-narcotics drives will continue.
