Human Chain Demanding Withdrawal of Case Against Junayed Mia in Sarail Aruail.

Taslima Khandaker Nusrat (Sarail Correspondent, Brahmanbaria) Local traders and residents of Aruail Bazar in Sarail Upazila, Brahmanbaria, held a human chain, protest march, and demonstration demanding the withdrawal of a case filed against prominent businessman Md. Junayed Mia. Under the banner of ‘All Traders and Residents’, the program was held on Thursday morning (August 27) at Aruail Bazar, with over five hundred people taking part. Speakers at the human chain alleged that businessman Junayed Mia was made an accused in a case filed by Awami League leader Kamal. They claimed the case was harassing and politically motivated. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case and assurance of the honor and security of a businessman and socially recognized person. The speakers said Junayed Mia has been running his business in the Aruail area with a good reputation for a long time. He has been helping local traders and ordinary people with various needs. However, they alleged that an influential group has brought false and fabricated extortion allegations against him to damage his social and business reputation. According to them, Junayed Mia never demanded extortion from anyone nor borrowed or took loans from anyone. The speakers further claimed that the incident was actually rooted in a personal and family matter. They said an initiative was taken to resolve the matter concerning an alleged love affair between Kamal’s son and a young woman from Burichang in Cumilla. Later, as the issue was not resolved, they alleged that the matter was diverted and an extortion complaint was filed against Junayed Mia. Local traders Aminul, Akkas, Abul Kalam and others spoke at the human chain. They demanded a neutral investigation to uncover the real facts and the withdrawal of the harassing case if it proves to be so. However, the statement of the plaintiff in the case regarding the allegations and demands raised at the human chain could not be obtained immediately. As a result, the veracity of the allegations could not be independently verified. After the human chain, traders and residents brought out a protest march. The march circled various roads of Aruail Bazar. During this time, participants chanted various slogans demanding the withdrawal of the case filed against businessman Junayed Mia and a fair investigation into the incident.
