A Final Salute and Armed Salute. A Freedom Fighter’s Eternal Farewell; Mourning in Sarankhola. S A Kalam Bagerhat Sarankhola has bid farewell to a man of golden heart and great courage. Md. Nazrul Islam Lal, founding General Secretary of Sarankhola Upazila BNP, former convener of BNP, and one of the key organizers of the Sundarbans Sub-Sector during the Liberation War, passed away on Friday night, July 17, while undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital. He was 85. Nazrul Islam Lal was widely known in the area as a friendly and kind-hearted person. During the Liberation War of 1971, he played a significant role as an organizer in the Sundarbans Sub-Sector. In a tragic turn, his only wife also passed away on Tuesday, July 7, while undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital. The childless couple has left no one behind. During his lifetime, he donated a portion of his land to an orphanage. The funeral prayer for the deceased will be held today, Saturday, July 18, after Asr prayers at Amragachia School Ground in his home village. The passing of this valiant freedom fighter from the 1971 war has cast a shadow of grief over all of Sarankhola,Bagerhat.
