Biomedical and Nano Researcher Dr. Ahsanul Kaiser has won the BPA (Best Professional Award) 2026 and the Star Excellence Award 2026 in the Biomedical Research and Innovation category.
Professionals, entrepreneurs, social workers and innovators who have contributed to various sectors of the country were honored at a grand ceremony on June 20, 2026 at the Kochikancha Auditorium, Segunbagichar Central, Dhaka, and on July 11, 2026 at the ERF Auditorium, Bijoynagar, Dhaka. At these ceremonies, nano-researcher Dr. Ahsanul Kaiser won the 'BPA (Best Professional Award) – Season 02' and 'Star Excellence Award 2026' in the 'Biomedical Research and Innovation' category respectively.
He said, “Since childhood, inspired by the ideals of 'Divine and Human Service', I have developed a deep interest in working for the welfare of all living beings and life. Driven by a genuine love and devotion to society and the biological world—and with the aim of conducting advanced biomedical research—he joined the Masters-to-PhD program in Biomedical Engineering at Monash University (Sunway Campus) in December 2014 with a full scholarship and stipend. His research topic was 'Smart Drug Delivery and Image-Guided Therapy for Cancer Using Modified Carbonate Apatite Nanoparticles', and he subsequently successfully completed his PhD in October 2019.” The main objective of his postgraduate research at Monash University was to understand the effect of various physical parameters on the synthesis and modification of biodegradable, pH-sensitive, inorganic “carbonate apatite nanoparticles (NPs)” to act as effective nano-carriers for bio-imaging agents, small molecules and various drugs. This nanocarrier was used in (i) bio-imaging guided targeted therapy, (ii) smart theranostic nanoparticle-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) using NIR laser and (iii) synergistic combination therapy for the treatment of breast cancer.
After completing his PhD, he was selected as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Apex Research Organization of BCSIR, Dhaka, Bangladesh and successfully served. At the same time, he worked as a co-researcher and consultant with Dr. Mostafa Kamal Arefin, a renowned researcher and specialist in the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Between 2020 and 2022, he worked as a co-researcher with Dr. Arefin in two important and successful national clinical trials conducted in different hospitals in Dhaka, Bangladesh; these trials evaluated an oro-nasal spray for protection against COVID-19 and emerged as the most talked about, much-praised and widely accepted “biomedical research” worldwide during the pandemic.
Expressing his feelings on receiving these awards, he said, “This honor is a gift from the Almighty God. It is the result of the love, prayers and faith of my parents, grandparents, family, teachers, colleagues, patients and their guardians and the general public. This recognition will inspire me to work more responsibly in the future.”
