Abandoned building causes road hazard in Kaukhali, drivers and pedestrians in extreme distress.

A dilapidated abandoned building stands in an extremely risky condition on one of the shortest and busiest roads from Kaukhali in Pirojpur to the capital Dhaka via Nesarabad, Banaripara and Goriyapar. Located on the road adjacent to the Kaukhali Bailey Bridge, this building is regularly disrupting traffic and frequent accidents are occurring. According to local sources, the owner of the building is a person named Abdul Haque. The roof and walls of the building, which has been abandoned for a long time, are dilapidated and extend directly onto the road in a risky manner. As a result, the road has become narrow. Passengers and heavy vehicles going to Dhaka, Pirojpur, Khulna and Barisal cannot see vehicles coming from the opposite direction when they cross the Bailey Bridge and reach this part. This constantly causes minor and major accidents. Locals and road users have complained that officials from various government departments, local public representatives and locals have repeatedly requested the owner, Abdul Haque, to remove the building. However, he has not taken any action and has refrained from removing the building. Angry local residents have raised questions about the "strength" of the building owner as it has not been removed despite government initiatives or the local administration's urging. A local bus driver said, "This old building is located at the intersection just after crossing the Bailey Bridge, so it is difficult to see cars coming from the opposite direction. I have escaped accidents several times. If it is not removed quickly, a major loss of life can occur at any time. When they tried to contact the owner of the building in this regard, he could not be found. However, they learned through a relative that a case is pending in the court regarding this building. The residents of Kaukhali have demanded urgent intervention of the concerned administration and executive authorities to remove the building to ensure the safety of thousands of people traveling on the road and to ensure smooth travel.
