Torture and hostage taking in scam compound, 38 Bangladeshi return from Cambodia.

Staff Reporter. 38 Bangladeshis who were trapped in various fraudulent cyber scam compounds in Cambodia have returned home. They arrived in Dhaka on Thai Airways flight 'TG-321' at around 12:30 pm on Thursday (September 3). Five of the returning victims have expressed their intention to take legal action and file a case against the human traffickers. They allege that a group of active Bangladeshi traffickers residing in Cambodia have intimidated them in various ways on their way back home, applied pressure and tried to prevent the process of returning home. The victims said that they were forcibly detained in various cyber scam compounds in Cambodia. Later, they were forced to engage in immoral and fraudulent cyber activities. They also alleged that they were subjected to physical and mental torture if they did not agree to these activities. After returning to the country, the relevant authorities said that the rescued citizens will be provided with security, mental rehabilitation and necessary legal assistance. At the same time, legal action will be taken by verifying the complaints of the victims and identifying those involved in human trafficking and cyber fraud.
