Md. Omar Faruk | special correspondent Sitakundu ,Chattogram. The Coast Guard has recovered a total of 1,100 sacks of fertilizer from an ownerless boat in two separate operations at the Kumira Ghatghar area of Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram. The latest operation was conducted at around 9:00 am on Thursday (September 10) in the Kumira Ghatghar area, when Coast Guard personnel recovered approximately 700 sacks of fertilizer from a boat. According to Coast Guard sources, the fertilizer was found abandoned on the boat. Despite searching the surrounding area, the Coast Guard could not identify or locate anyone claiming ownership of the fertilizer. Earlier, on Tuesday night, another 410 sacks of fertilizer were recovered from the same area. Thus, a total of approximately 1,100 sacks of fertilizer have been recovered in two separate operations within three days. The recovered fertilizer was subsequently handed over to Sitakunda Model Police Station for further legal proceedings. Local residents suspect that the fertilizer may have been stored on the boat with the intention of being illegally transported or smuggled. However, no conclusive evidence has yet been found to confirm the allegation. Authorities are investigating the ownership and source of the fertilizer, as well as the purpose for which it was being stored on the boat. Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohinul Islam said that an investigation is underway to determine the ownership and source of the recovered fertilizer. Legal proceedings in connection with the matter are also ongoing.
