Rajapur (Jhalokathi) Correspondent. In Rajapur, Jhalokathi, a case has been filed against the headmaster and the president of the managing committee over allegations of wrongfully recording an additional 19 decimals of land in the name of the school, which was donated for the school. On 8 September 2026, local residents Md. Niamul Ahsan and Md. Sarowar Hossain Talukder filed the case in the Jhalokathi District Court. The matter came to light on 10 August. In the case, Md. Jahidul Islam, Headmaster and Member Secretary of Rajapur Model Pilot High School, has been made Defendant No. 1, and the President of the school’s managing committee has been made Defendant No. 2. According to the plaint, in CS Khatian No. 143, Dag No. 2196 of Rajapur mouza, the plaintiffs’ ancestors owned a total of 39.33 decimals of land. During the establishment of the school, they donated 20 decimals of that land to the school. The remaining 19 decimals have been in the plaintiffs’ possession for a long time. They built shop rooms on that land and rent them out to tenants. The plaintiffs allege that beyond the 20 decimals that were donated, the remaining 19 decimals were also wrongfully recorded in the school’s name during the RS, SA, and BS surveys. Recently, citing that record, the school authorities claimed ownership of the land, which led to a dispute. As no initiative was taken to correct the record, they had to turn to the court. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs have sought a declaration of their inheritance rights and also sought a show-cause order against the defendants. The court has accepted the case and ordered the defendants to show cause. Plaintiff Md. Sarowar Hossain Talukder said, “We have no claim over the 20 decimals of land that our ancestors donated during the school’s establishment. Our claim is only for the remaining 19 decimals. We have demanded that the record for that land be corrected in our name.” Regarding this, Headmaster Md. Jahidul Islam said, “I am not aware of the case. If they have any documents regarding the claim mentioned in the case, we will sit and take initiatives to resolve it through discussion.”
