Allegations of drug use have surfaced against a police constable stationed at Dimla Police Station in Nilphamari. Following the viral spread of a video regarding the incident on social media, the constable was withdrawn from Dimla Police Station and reassigned to the District Police Lines. Confidential sources indicate that this action was taken last Friday under the orders of the District Superintendent of Police. The constable in question is Ramzan Ali (Constable No. 420).
It is reported that drug-taking sessions had been held daily for a long time at a house near the Islamiya Degree College intersection in Dimla Sadar Union. Locals allege that these activities were taking place with the consent of the homeowner, Motahar Hossain Sohel.
On the evening of September 10, local residents noticed suspicious individuals frequenting the house. When a group of locals surrounded the premises, some of the people inside attempted to flee. During this time, locals identified Constable Ramzan Ali and recorded a video of him. The video subsequently circulated on social media, sparking widespread criticism in the area. Once the allegations came to the attention of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dimla Police Station and the district police administration, the constable was initially withdrawn from the station and reassigned to the Police Lines.
Regarding the matter, Ashraful Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dimla Police Station, stated that after the video alleging drug use came to their attention, the matter was reported to higher authorities; subsequently, acting on their instructions, the constable was withdrawn from the station and reassigned to the Police Lines.
