Tragic death of 5-year-old child drowned in pond in Faridpur

Biplab Kumar Das, Staff Reporter: In Madhukhali, Faridpur, a five-year-old child named Utsh Sarkar has tragically died after drowning in the water of a pond next to his house. This incident occurred on Tuesday (15 September) at around 7:30 AM in the Sitarampur Daspara village of the Nawpara union in the upazila. The deceased Utsh Sarkar was the only child of Uttam Sarkar from that village. Relatives reported that after waking up in the morning, Utsh's mother was busy with household chores. During this time, the child walked out of the house unnoticed. At some point during his walk, it is believed that he fell into a pond of a neighbouring house and drowned. Meanwhile, after not finding their child at home, family members began searching everywhere. During the search, they noticed the child's sandal floating in a local pond, which raised their suspicions. Later, a search of that pond led to the recovery of the child's lifeless body from under the water. The environment in the area has become heavy with the cries of the parents who have lost their only child. This tragic accident has cast a deep shadow of mourning over the entire Daspara village.
