Hamidul Gazi (42), who fired shots in public while brandishing a revolver during a car parking dispute on the highway in Bhanga, Faridpur. At the same time, the revolver used in the incident and a brown private car have been seized. On Thursday (17 September) afternoon, Faridpur's Superintendent of Police Shahriar Mohammad Miyaji confirmed this information at a press conference. The police stated that on 15 September, Hamidul was arrested in a joint operation in the Banani area of Dhaka by the Bhanga police and RAB-1. Subsequently, based on the information he provided, a .22 bore revolver used in the crime was recovered from an abandoned toilet at his home in Louhajang, Munshiganj. At the press conference, the Superintendent of Police mentioned that on the night of 17 August, while demonstrating power and strength in front of the Bhanga Highway Police Station, Hamidul fired two rounds of shots on an empty road and fled. Later, when that video of the shooting went viral on social media, it created a huge uproar across the country. The investigation revealed that the arrested Hamidul has a total of 9 cases against him in various police stations, of which 8 are drug-related. The police suspect that he has been involved in illegal drug trafficking for a long time under the guise of a jute business. The law enforcement agencies have stated that preparations are underway to present the accused in court after the legal process is completed.
