Upazila Administration Conducts Cleanliness Drive at Guliakhali Sea Beach Md. Omar Faruk | Special Correspondent A cleanliness drive and tree plantation programme were held at Guliakhali Sea Beach, one of the scenic tourist destinations in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram, under the initiative of the Sitakunda Upazila Administration. The programme was inaugurated at around 12:00 noon on Saturday (September 19) by Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Fakhrul Islam. During the cleanliness drive, scattered garbage, plastic, polythene and other waste materials from different areas of Guliakhali Sea Beach were removed. The initiative also focused on raising public awareness about protecting the natural beauty and environment of the tourist destination. As part of the programme, saplings of various species were planted in different areas of the beach. Local residents, tourists and all concerned were urged to play a responsible role in keeping the tourist spot clean and environmentally friendly. Emphasis was also placed on disposing of waste at designated places and reducing the use of plastic and polythene. Cleaners from Sitakunda Municipality and BNCC cadet members of Sitakunda Degree College participated in the cleanliness campaign. Among those present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sitakunda Md. Fazle Rabbi, Secondary Education Officer Ismat Ara, Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Motasim Billah, Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Ishtiaq, Convener of Sitakunda Upazila BNP Dr. Kamal Kadar, President of the Teachers' Association Md. Mobarak Ali Master, Administrative Officer of Muradpur Union Parishad Nirmal Chandra Das, along with officials from various departments of the Upazila Administration and leaders of political and social organisations.
