Faridpur Kotwali police arrested 'Taki Ripon', a 14-year sentenced accused in a robbery case, in Dhaka, recovering 2 firearms. Biplab Kumar Das, Staff Reporter. Saiful Islam alias Taki Ripon (46), a 14-year sentenced accused in a robbery case at Faridpur Kotwali police station, has been arrested by the Special Response Battalion (SRB). Based on the information he provided, a raid was conducted, recovering 2 locally made firearms (one shooter gun). On Monday (21st September), a press release sent by the SRB stated that on 19th September afternoon, a joint operational team of SRB-10, CPC-3 (Faridpur camp), and SRB-4 (Dhaka) conducted a raid at a residential building in the Pallabi area of the capital based on secret information. In the said operation, the absconding accused Saiful Islam, sentenced to 14 years in a robbery case at Faridpur Kotwali police station, was arrested. The arrested accused is the son of deceased A. Hock Bepari from the Ishan Gopalpur area of Faridpur Kotwali police station. Subsequently, based on the information provided by the arrested accused, a separate operation was conducted in the Ishan Gopalpur area of Faridpur in the early hours of 20th September, recovering 2 locally made one shooter guns by the operational team. The SRB's press release states that the arrested accused Saiful Islam is a professional criminal. He has 1 arms case, 2 robbery cases, 1 theft case, 1 acid crime suppression act case, and 1 explosives act case against him in various police stations. The arrested accused has been handed over to the relevant police station after legal proceedings. The press release mentions that SRB's zero tolerance operations to maintain law and order and combat illegal arms and crime will continue in the future.
