Humane Initiative by Army Members in Guimara, Khagrachhari.

JahangirAlam, ​ Staff Reporter. ​Sindukchhari Zone, under the Guimara Region of the Bangladesh Army, organized a special medical campaign to ensure healthcare services for underprivileged marginal hill and Bengali communities in Guimara upazila of Khagrachhari. Around 450 poor and helpless patients received free specialist consultations and necessary medicines during this day-long humane initiative. ​The medical campaign was held on Monday (September 21) from morning until afternoon. A joint medical team comprising specialist doctors from the Bangladesh Army and the Matiranga Upazila Health Complex provided the medical services. ​Treatment was provided for various seasonal illnesses, including fever, cold and cough, eye issues, respiratory infections, and skin diseases. Medicines and advisory care were also distributed for waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, dysentery, and typhoid. Additionally, a group of local nurses recently trained under the Sindukchhari Zone actively served as medical assistants during the campaign. ​Praising the effort, a local public representative said, "This noble initiative by the Bangladesh Army is highly commendable. In particular, involving locally trained young women in healthcare delivery allows people from all walks of life—both hill and Bengali communities—to access primary healthcare right at their doorstep." ​Beneficiaries and local civil society representatives expressed deep gratitude to the Bangladesh Army and the Sindukchhari Zone for providing free treatment and essential medicines. ​A responsible officer of the Sindukchhari Zone stated that this regular initiative by the army aims to guarantee healthcare for the marginal population in the hill region. As part of this ongoing commitment, a free eye campaign in collaboration with Chittagong Lions Hospital will be held at the same venue soon, followed by a larger medical campaign. He reaffirmed that the military's humane efforts will continue in order to foster peace, harmony, and public welfare in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
