Man Dies After Attacked Over Previous Enmity in Nabinagar.

Brahmanbaria Correspondent. A 40-year-old man, who sustained critical injuries in an alleged attack stemming from a long-standing dispute, died while undergoing treatment in Debidwar of Cumilla on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Md. Iqbal, a resident of Northpara area of Khagatuya village in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. According to local sources, the incident took place at around 12:30am on Monday (September 21) in the Bhorer Bazar area of Khagatuya village. Iqbal was allegedly attacked by a group of people, leaving him critically injured. Locals said that Iqbal had been involved in a previous dispute with some people in the area, and the latest attack might have been linked to that enmity. However, the exact motive behind the incident has yet to be established. Following the attack, Iqbal was initially taken to a hospital in Bancharampur for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to Debidwar for better medical care. He died while receiving treatment there on Tuesday night. Several local residents alleged that Alam, Halim and Saddam, all from the same village, might have been involved in the attack. However, the allegations could not be independently verified, and no statement from the accused individuals was available at the time of filing this report. Confirming the incident, Morshedul Alam Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nabinagar Police Station, said the body was sent to the Brahmanbaria District Morgue on Wednesday morning (September 23) for autopsy. The OC said the actual cause of death would be known after receiving the autopsy report. He added that legal proceedings in connection with the incident were underway. Following Iqbal’s death, tension has reportedly gripped the area, with an uneasy situation prevailing among local residents. Police have continued their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack, establish the actual motive behind the incident and identify those responsible. Further legal action will be taken based on the investigation and autopsy findings, police said.
