Md. Sohel Rana, Rajshahi Correspondent. A serious allegation has been raised in Tanore, Rajshahi, of obstruction, verbal abuse in foul language, attempted assault, and threats of forcible occupation of land while trying to renovate an old homestead on one's own purchased land. In this incident, the victim housewife Srimati Malati Rani (35) has filed a written complaint at Tanore Police Station mentioning three persons by name. According to the complaint, Srimati Malati Rani, wife of Shri Khokan Haldar of Masinda Haldarpara village under Tanore Upazila, has been living permanently with her family by building a house for a long time on 0.0750 acres of land obtained under registered deed No. 1541 dated 27/04/2006 of Tanore Sub-Registry Office. Recently, due to long-term use, their old raw mud house became dilapidated and damaged, so they took initiative to renovate it. But on 17 September 2026 at around 9:00 AM in the morning, when the house renovation work started, three sons of late Suren Haldar of the same area , 1. Shri Probhat Haldar (Katun) (36), 2. Shri Bhadu Haldar (46) and 3. Shri Mithun Haldar (30) illegally obstructed the work. The victim alleges that when she was forbidden from renovation work, the accused started abusing her in foul language and at one point became aggressive to beat her. They also threatened saying, "This place will be forcibly occupied by any means; and if anyone comes to obstruct this work, the consequences will be dire." After the incident, the victim and her family are spending days in extreme fear and insecurity. Although an attempt was made to settle the matter locally, it failed due to the adamant position of the accused, which caused some delay in filing a written complaint at the police station, the victim said. In this regard, Srimati Malati Rani said, "We have been living on our own purchased land for a long time. But when we tried to renovate it seeing the dilapidated condition of the house, they attempted to grab our land and threatened to kill us. We are now suffering from serious insecurity with our family." When asked about this, Tanore Thana Police said that a written complaint has been received. The process of taking legal action on the matter is ongoing.
