In Kalapara, 7 months pregnant woman kicked in the stomach at night, death of newborn due to abortion, beating allegations.

In Kalapara of Patuakhali, three miscreants have been accused of kicking a 7-month pregnant woman named Tanya Begum (25) in the stomach and beating her husband Habib Pahlan (45) and father Dulal Howladar (55). Soon after the incident, the woman miscarried and the newborn died. The incident took place at Munshi Bari stand of Chakamaiya Union of the upazila at eight o'clock on Saturday night. According to local sources on Sunday, auto driver Habib left his father-in-law's house in Betmore village of the union along with his pregnant wife Tanya and father-in-law Dulal for the hospital. At that time, Bakhat Sohag (20), Mamun (23) and Shaon Sikder (22) were standing on the road adjacent to Munsi Bari stand. As they were standing on the road, Habib's auto was obstructed. Meanwhile, Habib asked them to move away from the road. This led to an argument between Habib and the miscreants and the miscreants started beating them When Tanya stepped forward to save her husband and father, she was kicked in the stomach and kept standing for at least an hour and a half. Later, the locals rescued them and took them to the hospital. On the way to the emergency department, Tanya miscarried and the newborn died shortly after. However, it was not possible to take the statements of the accused as their mobile phones were switched off. Kalapara Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Ehsan said, due to injury to the abdomen, the patient suffered a miscarriage due to bleeding. We referred the child for better treatment. But the child died because they could not take the emergency. The child's mother is under treatment in the hospital.  OC of Kalapara police station.
