NCP Holds Consultation Meeting to Form Sitakunda Upazila Convening Committee.

A consultation meeting was held in Sitakunda to discuss the formation of the Upazila Convening Committee of the National Citizen Party (NCP). The meeting was held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Rajbari Restaurant in Sitakunda Municipality, with participation from local supporters, organisers and people from different professional backgrounds. NCP Chattogram North District Member Secretary Abdul Karim (Tipu) attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Chattogram North District Organising Secretary Tanzid Rahman was present as a special guest. The meeting was presided over by Chattogram North District Joint Convener Advocate Anwarul Alam (Khokon). The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Imran Khan. In his address, chief guest Abdul Karim (Tipu) raised questions about why ordinary people would join the NCP and what political orientation the party follows. He said people may choose to associate with or support the NCP because of expectations for new leadership and political reforms beyond traditional political practices. He also described the party’s politics as “Bangladesh-oriented.” A number of young people, senior citizens and new organisers from different professions in Sitakunda took part in the consultation meeting. Participants shared their views on the party’s future programmes, organisational activities and the selection of capable leadership. Speakers at the meeting called for the formation of the Sitakunda Upazila NCP Convening Committee based on competence, public acceptance and organisational capability. They said an appropriate leadership structure was necessary to further organise and strengthen the party’s activities in Sitakunda. The Chattogram North District leaders present at the meeting assured the participants that the Sitakunda Upazila Convening Committee would be formed within a short period. Participants expressed hope that the formation of a competent and acceptable committee would contribute to strengthening and expanding the NCP’s organisational activities in Sitakunda. The National Citizen Party is a relatively new political organisation that describes its political project as being led by students and citizens and focused on grassroots-level expansion and democratic reconstruction.
