A wave of enthusiasm and excitement has swept across Feni, particularly in the border upazila of Parshuram, ahead of the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit. State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad, MP, physically inspected the overall preparations and on-ground conditions to ensure seamless arrangements.
On Monday (September 28) around 10:30 AM, the State Minister visited key locations in Parshuram, including the Kheya Ghat area, vulnerable sections along the banks of the Muhuri River, and the proposed site for the Prime Minister's public rally. Following the inspection, he attended an exchange-of-views meeting with senior officials from the district administration, the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), and local authorities to review logistical readiness.
Addressing the media regarding permanent riverbank protection and development initiatives, the State Minister announced that a mega project worth Tk 1,542 crore has been approved to address the longstanding sufferings of residents in the Muhuri-Kahua river basin, such as flooding, waterlogging, and river erosion. Once implemented, the project is expected to bring a revolutionary transformation to agriculture, trade, and the socioeconomic livelihood of the riverbank communities.
"Water management is directly tied to our economy. Reducing the risks of flooding and erosion will safeguard farmers' crops and boost the local economy. We are actively working to grant the people of Feni permanent protection from waterlogging distress, and the Prime Minister’s visit will further accelerate these efforts," said Farhad Hossain Azad.
He strictly instructed officials to maintain execution quality, preserve ecological balance, and place the highest priority on the interests of local residents during project implementation.
Among others present during the visit were Member of Parliament for Feni-1 Munshi Rafiqul Alam (Majnu), Member of Parliament for Feni-2 Professor Joynal Abedin, the Deputy Commissioner of Feni, alongside high-ranking officials from the district administration and the Water Development Board.
