60 Illegal Structures Evicted Along Highway in Jaintapur.

Naeem Ahmed, Jaintapur-Gowainghat Sylhet. The Jaintapur Upazila Administration has conducted an operation against illegal structures built by occupying government land along the Sylhet-Tamabil-Jaflong highway in Jaintapur. On Thursday (October 1), separate drives were conducted at Chiknagul and Darbast Bazar in the upazila. During the operation, at least 60 small and large shops and illegal structures were demolished using bulldozers. The operation was led by Jaintapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sunanda Roy. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Monirul Islam, police personnel, officials from the Roads and Highways Department, local representatives and business leaders were also present. The upazila administration said that illegal structures occupying highway land are obstructing traffic movement and causing congestion. To keep the highway free from traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement, similar eviction drives will gradually be conducted in other markets across the upazila.
