Police Lead Novel Initiative to Keep Chhagalnaiya Footpaths and Zero Point Hawker-Free, OC Taher Holds Exchange Meeting with Traders. Jahangir Alam, Staff Reporter. In a unique awareness initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion and preserving the aesthetic appeal of key roads in the sub-district headquarters, the Chhagalnaiya Police Station has taken steps to clear footpaths and the central Zero Point area of floating hawkers. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chhagalnaiya Police Station, Mohammad Abu Taher, held a special exchange meeting with local shop owners and traders to discuss the matter. Addressing the traders, OC Mohammad Abu Taher said, "Zero Point is the heart of Chhagalnaiya. Ensuring smooth movement for the general public, alleviating traffic jams, and maintaining a healthy market environment is our collective responsibility. A permanent solution cannot be achieved solely through eviction drives or legal enforcement; it requires genuine awareness and cooperation from everyone." He urged business owners to keep the frontage of their respective shops clear and requested their assistance in preventing floating vendors from setting up stalls indiscriminately on sidewalks. Welcoming the initiative, local merchants noted that unauthorized street vendors at Zero Point had long been causing severe traffic gridlocks and hindering pedestrian movement. Expressing optimism that this direct, proactive outreach by the police would restore order to the area, the traders pledged their full support. Local observers believe that if such direct engagement and supervision between the police and business community continue, Chhagalnaiya Zero Point will soon transform into a clean, traffic-free model area.
