Chattagram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali has directed police officers to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and firmness to maintain law and order, suppress crime, and ensure the rapid disposal of pending cases across the port city.
He issued these directives while presiding over the monthly crime review meeting for September 2026, held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday (October 6) at the CMP Headquarters conference room in Dampara.
Sending a clear message to all departments to restore overall safety and traffic discipline, the CMP Commissioner declared a zero-tolerance policy against offenses such as drug peddling, theft, mugging, extortion, and juvenile gang activities. He urged every territorial division and detective unit to play a proactive role in combating these crimes.
Placing special emphasis on the swift resolution of pending cases—including murder cases—and public complaints, the Commissioner stated that bringing effective police services to citizens' doorsteps remains the department's core objective. He urged officers to increase case disposal rates and expedite the execution of outstanding arrest warrants.
Regarding urban traffic management, the Commissioner instructed the Traffic Division to take a tougher stance against unregistered and unfit vehicles through regular enforcement drives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, awards were presented to officers recognized across various categories for outstanding performance, crime control, and dedication during the month of September.
Senior CMP officials attended the meeting, including Additional Police Commissioner (Administration and Finance) Wahidul Haq Chowdhury, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Hossain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Muhammad Faisal Ahmed, along with Deputy Commissioners recently promoted to Additional DIG—Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury (Headquarters), Md. Habibur Rahman Prang (South), Sheikh Shariful Islam (DB-South), and Nesar Uddin Ahmed (Traffic-North).
