Two Fugitive Convicts Sentenced to Seven Years Jailed in SRB-9 Raid in Sylhet.

Two fugitive convicts sentenced to seven years in prison in separate drug cases have been arrested in a special operation conducted by Special Response Battalion (SRB)-9 in Sylhet. The arrests were made on Thursday night (October 8) during separate raids in two locations under Shah Paran (R.) Police Station in Sylhet. According to SRB-9, a joint operational team from CPC-3, Sunamganj, and the Sadar Company conducted the first raid based on confidential information at the Al-Islah Trimukhi Point area under Shah Paran (R.) Police Station. At around 10:00 pm, the team arrested Md. Ziaur Rahman (36), a fugitive convict sentenced to seven years in a drug case filed with Zakiganj Police Station. He is the son of Abdul Mannan of Paschim Masimpur village in Dowarabazar Upazila of Sunamganj. In a separate operation the same night, at approximately 11:20 pm, the team raided a residential house in the Uttar Baluchar Notun Bazar area under Shah Paran (R.) Police Station. During the raid, another fugitive convict, Syed Rahim Ali, was arrested. He had also been sentenced to seven years in prison in a drug case filed with Zakiganj Police Station. He is the son of the late Md. Samir Ali of Lohajgram area in Jagannathpur Upazila of Sunamganj. SRB-9 stated that both arrested individuals have been handed over to the respective police station for further legal proceedings. The battalion also stated that its intelligence activities and operations will continue to maintain law and order and prevent criminal activities.
