Allegation Against Second Wife for Cutting Husband Penis After He Visited First Wife in Puthia, Second Wife Detained.

Md. Sohel Rana, Rajshahi Correspondent. In Puthia, Rajshahi, a second wife has been accused of cutting off her sleeping husband's penis with a razor blade following a dispute involving her co-wife. The incident took place early Saturday (October 10) morning in a rented house in the Mahindra Bazar area of the upazila. The severely injured husband, Ashraful Islam (35), was rescued and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). The accused second wife, Rekha Khatun, has been taken into police custody. The injured Ashraful Islam is a resident of Tarapur village in Puthia upazila and works as a bus helper by profession. According to police and local sources, Ashraful's first wife lives in their ancestral home in Tarapur village, while he lived with his second wife, Rekha Khatun, in a rented house in the Mahindra Bazar area under Belpukur Police Station. However, Ashraful occasionally visited his first wife, which led to longstanding family disputes and quarrels with Rekha Khatun. It is alleged that as a result of this dispute, Rekha Khatun severed Ashraful's penis with a blade while he was asleep early Saturday morning. Ashraful was critically injured in the attack and was rushed to the hospital shortly after being rescued. Farooq Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Belpukur Police Station in Rajshahi, stated that upon receiving news of the incident, police promptly reached the scene, rescued the injured Ashraful, and sent him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment in Ward No. 5 of the hospital, with his first wife present to attend to him. The OC added that the accused second wife, Rekha Khatun, was detained following the incident and is currently in police custody. Preparations are underway to take legal action and file a case regarding the matter.
