Md. Sohel Rana, Rajshahi Correspondent Police in Rajshahi have recovered the partially decomposed body of an elderly woman in one incident, while a bamboo furniture businessman lost his life in a clash stemming from a land dispute in another. Both incidents took place on Sunday night (October 11) in the city's Kedur Mor and the Kharkhari Kamalapur area of Poba Upazila. The deceased elderly woman from the city's Kedur Mor area was identified as Beli Khatun (70). She lived alone in her residence. Her husband passed away a few years ago, and her four children live abroad. According to local sources, tenants of the house called police after receiving no response despite repeatedly knocking on her door. Police later broke open the door and recovered her partially decomposed body. Masuma Mustari, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalia Model Police Station, stated that there were injury marks on the body. It is initially suspected that she was killed two to three days ago. Police have detained three individuals, including a domestic worker, for questioning regarding the incident. Meanwhile, in Kharkhari Kamalapur of Poba Upazila, Jiarul Islam (45) was killed in a clash over a land dispute. He was the son of the late Osman Ali and worked as a bamboo furniture trader. Local sources revealed that Jiarul and the accused, Minarul, were cousin brothers. A long-standing land dispute and ongoing lawsuit existed between their ancestors. On Sunday, when Minarul went to show the disputed land to a buyer, Jiarul's faction learned about it, leading to a clash between the two sides. At one point, Jiarul was recovered unconscious and rushed to the hospital, where attending doctors declared him dead. Monirul Islam, OC of Chandrima Police Station, stated that the incident is being thoroughly investigated and necessary legal action will be taken. Both bodies have been kept at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
