Many had almost given up hope of ever recovering their lost mobile phones. However, through effective measures and the use of modern information technology by the Feni District Police, 50 victims finally received their cherished devices back.
On Sunday (October 11), Superintendent of Police (SP) Protyush Kumar Majumder officially handed over the 50 recovered mobile phones to their legitimate owners during a ceremony held at the Feni District Police Superintendent's office.
According to district police sources, victims had previously filed General Diaries (GDs) at various police stations across the district following the loss of their mobile devices. Based on these GDs, the specialized "Cyber Cell" of the Feni District Police launched investigations. Using modern information technology, specific tracking, and targeted searches, the police successfully traced and recovered the 50 phones. Following proper verification, the actual owners were called in and presented with their devices.
Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Mu. Saiful Islam, along with officials and members of the concerned departments of the district police, were present at the handover event.
Expressing delight and relief at receiving their lost phones back intact after a long time, the owners extended their gratitude to the police force. One victim remarked, "I never imagined I would get my phone back. We are overwhelmed by such prompt and effective action from the police."
Speaking on the occasion, Additional SP (DSB) Mu. Saiful Islam said, "Recovering lost assets and returning them to the general public is part of the police's regular duties. We are working to make police services more people-friendly and effective by leveraging modern information technology."
He added, "During my tenure, we previously recovered and handed over 60 and 44 lost mobile phones in two separate phases. We advise citizens not to panic if a phone is lost, but to promptly file a GD at the nearest police station and keep important details—including the phone's IMEI number—safely recorded."
The senior officer emphasized that the core objective of the district police is to strengthen the bond of trust between the police and the public by standing beside citizens in times of need.
