6 Gamblers Arrested in DB Police Raid in Kurigram

Mohinul Islam Sujon, Crime Reporter District Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested six people during a raid on a gambling den in Phulbari, Kurigram. Gambling equipment and Tk 10,170 in cash were seized from them. The information was disclosed in a press release sent by the Kurigram Police Media Cell on Monday (October 12). Earlier, the raid was conducted at around 7:45 pm on Sunday (October 11) in the Sonaikazi area of Shimulbari Union under Phulbari Upazila. Police said that as part of their nighttime operations and duty, they raided the area and arrested six people while they were gambling. A case has been filed in this incident under the relevant sections of the Gambling Prevention Act, 2026. The arrested individuals are Abu Sufian (32), Sultan Sarkar (42), Zahir Uddin (35), Nazirul Islam (30), Saiful Islam (28), and Tayeb Ali (28). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Kurigram District Detective Branch (DB) Police, Md. Rezaul Karim, said, “Gambling is a social disease. Police have been monitoring gambling activities in various police station areas of Kurigram for a long time. Special drives against gambling will continue.
