Beloved Police Officer Reflects on Two Decades of Dedicated Public Service.

Jahangir Alam, ​Staff Reporter. ​For one seasoned first-class police officer, a career in the Bangladesh Police has been far more than just enforcing the law it has been an expansive journey of heartfelt public service and deep human connection. ​Having served across diverse policing units ranging from various police stations, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Detective Branch—the veteran official is currently posted at the District Special Branch (DSB) in Noakhali. ​His journey began when he was recommended as an "Outside Cadet" in 2005, formally joining the force in March 2006. In the early stage of his career as a Sub-Inspector (SI), he served with distinction under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across Kamrangirchar, Ramna, Adabor, Bangshal, and Mugda police stations. His versatile posting history also includes Matiranga Police Station in the hilly district of Khagrachhari, RAB-8 camps in Barishal and Patuakhali, the Special Branch (SB) Defense Wing, City Special Branch (CTSB) Dhaka, and the Bangladesh Immigration Police. ​Upon his promotion to the rank of Inspector in 2016, his responsibilities expanded significantly. He went on to demonstrate exemplary leadership across multiple roles, including serving in PBI Narayanganj; as Inspector (Investigation) and DIO-1 in Rajnagar, Moulvibazar; Line-OR in Tangail; Inspector (Investigation) in Bhanga and Boalmari, Faridpur; Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alfadanga Police Station; Inspector (Crime) in Faridpur; within the Media Division at CID Headquarters; and as Inspector (Investigation) at Sudharam Police Station in Noakhali. ​Reflecting on his expansive career across the nation, the officer considers the genuine affection and trust earned from ordinary citizens to be his greatest lifetime achievement. Even today, people from his previous postings across various districts frequently reach out to stay in touch and seek guidance. ​"Whether I was able to serve the public with genuine sincerity during my tenure in DMP, the Hill Tracts, RAB, CID, PBI, or field-level police stations is best judged by the people of those communities," the officer recalled emotionally. "However, when residents from my past postings call today just to check on me or ask for advice, it reassures me that I managed to secure a small place in their hearts. That enduring public trust is the true success of a police officer." ​His extensive field experience in maintaining law and order, combating crime, and delivering accessible justice directly to citizens' doorsteps continues to draw widespread appreciation across all walks of life.
