Rajapur (Jhalakathi) Correspondent. Allegations of irregularities and poor quality of medical services have been raised against the Islamic Mission Hospital Complex in Rajapur, Jhalakathi. After inspecting the hospital's activities, Md. Rafiqul Islam Jamal, Member of Parliament for Jhalakathi-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia) constituency, said he would order an investigation into the matter through senior officials. He said this during a surprise visit to the hospital located in the Kanudaskathi area of the upazila on Monday (October 12) at noon. After the inspection, MP Rafiqul Islam Jamal said, "The hospital has been operating with funding from the Islamic Foundation. I have heard that irregularities have been taking place here for a long time and people are not getting proper services. Visiting today, I saw that the hospital's operations are almost on the verge of closure. There is hardly any medical service here." He also said that the hospital's ultrasonogram machine has been stolen and the X-ray machine is out of order. People who have been working for the last 15 to 16 years remain in the same condition. He said that although daily attendance is recorded, no mention of what kind of medical services are being provided was found in the register. The MP said that in the future, an investigation will be ordered through senior officials into the hospital's activities and allegations of irregularities, so that the general public can get proper medical services. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rifat Ara Mouri, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Md. Abul Khair Mahmud, Deputy Director of Jhalakathi District Islamic Foundation Md. Alam Hossain and party leaders and activists were present during the inspection.
