Zorarganj Thana Police, 702 sacks of raw material for plastic manufacturing were recovered in connection with smuggling,

In an operation by Zorarganj Thana Police, 702 sacks of raw material for plastic manufacturing were recovered in connection with smuggling, 01 accused arrested and 01 covered van seized, 01 accused arrested on CR conviction warrant, and 06 accused arrested under Section 151 Cr.P.C. Under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge of Zorarganj Police Station, Mr. Abdul Halim, operations were conducted. SI (Unarmed) Abdullah Al Masud along with accompanying officer and force set up a temporary checkpost on the paved road of the Dhaka-bound lane of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in front of the Palli Bidyut Office under Zorarganj Police Station and detained accused Md. Siddik Hossain (39) along with 01 cargo truck (covered van). 5/6 persons got down from the vehicle and fled away running. In presence of witnesses, 702 sacks of raw material for making plastic were recovered from the covered van, each sack weighing 25 kg (702x25) = 17,550 kg of raw material for making plastic, whose total estimated value is Tk. 45,00,000/- (forty-five lakh) and a blue-yellow colored covered van type cargo truck bearing Reg. No. JESSORE-TA-11-4611 used for smuggling was recovered. The arrested accused could not produce any valid documents for the recovered raw material for making plastic. It is learned that the recovered raw material was brought into Bangladesh from China through smuggling by evading government duties and other legal taxes. In this connection, Case No. 14, dated 13/10/2026, under Section 25B/25D of The Special Powers Act 1974 has been registered at Zorarganj Police Station against the arrested accused 1. Md. Siddik Hossain (39), father - Late Samsul Alam, mother - Firoza Begum, Village - Dakshin Sripur, P.S. - Sundarganj, District - Gaibandha, presently Village - Mohammad Ali's Colony, Abdul Hamid Road, P.S. - Khulshi, CMP, Chattogram and absconding accused 2. Anis Rahman Sultan (30), father - Unknown, Village - Roufabad, Oxygen, P.S. - Bayezid, CMP, Chattogram and 3/4 unknown accused persons. ASI (Unarmed) Md. Zahir Hossain along with accompanying officer and force arrested accused in CR Case No. 127/17 warrant of conviction Md. Sajjad Hossain, father - Late Amjad Hossain, Business - Owner of M/S Mithila Enterprise, Takia Market, Chinki Astana, Bariarhat, P.S. - Zorarganj, Upazila - Mirsharai, District - Chattogram, Permanent Address - Monir Uddin's House, Village - Paschim Jamalpur, P.O. Mahajanhata-4326, P.S. - Zorarganj, Mirsarai, District - Chattogram from Double Mooring Police Station area of Chattogram district at 02.30 AM today on 14/10/2026. SI (Unarmed) Abdullah Al Masud along with accompanying officer and force for prevention of crime, while suspiciously loitering on the road in front of the ongoing petrol pump in Zorarganj UP at 01.45 AM on 14/10/2026, arrested 1. Md. Rana (26), father - Md. Gias Uddin, mother - Shabana Begum, Village - Sonapahar, Ward No. 8, 2. Md. Hridoy (24), father - Hiru Mia, mother - Peyara Begum, Village - Madhyam Sonapahar, Ward No. 7, 3. Md. Arif (23), father - Md. Belal, mother - Taslima Akhtar, Village - Madhyam Sonapahar, Ward No. 8, 4. Md. Monir (24), father - Md. Lal Mia, mother - Suraiya Begum, Village - Madhyam Sonapahar, Ward No. 7, 5. Md. Sohel (25), father - Latu Mia, mother - Paruli Begum, Village - Sonapahar, Ward No. 3, all of 3 No. Zorarganj UP, P.S. - Zorarganj, District - Chattogram under Section 151 Cr.P.C. SI (Unarmed) Abdullah Al Masud along with accompanying officer and force for prevention of crime arrested Md. Mosharraf Hossain (40), father - Late Delwar Hossain, mother - Samena Khatun, Village - Koyla (Ruhul Amin's House), Ward No. 6, 1 No. Karerhat Union, P.S. - Zorarganj, District - Chattogram from Koyla Rastar Matha under Zorarganj Police Station at 02.30 AM on 14/10/2026 under Section 151 Cr.P.C. The accused have been produced before the learned court after taking appropriate legal action against them.
