Bus Driver Arrested by SRB-9 in Sylhet After Mother and Daughter Die in Bus-Tomtom Collision

Naeem Ahmed, Sylhet Correspondent: SRB-9 has arrested bus driver Nasir Mia in connection with a head-on collision between a bus and a tomtom that claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter in Sylhet. He was arrested during an operation in an area of South Surma in Sylhet Metropolitan City on Thursday night (October 15). The arrested driver, Nasir Mia (47), is a resident of Pirergaon in Sylhet Airport Police Station area. His father's name is Shamsul Haque. According to police sources, the accident occurred on the afternoon of October 10 in the Lalbazar area under Airport Police Station in Sylhet, when a bus collided head-on with a tomtom. Several members of the same family travelling in the tomtom sustained serious injuries. Later, the mother, Sumaiya Siddika Tania, and her daughter, Iniya Jannat, died while undergoing treatment. Following the incident, the victims' family filed a case with Sylhet Airport Police Station. Subsequently, acting on a tip-off, an SRB-9 operational team conducted a raid and arrested bus driver Nasir Mia on allegations of involvement in the accident. The arrested individual has been handed over to Sylhet Airport Police Station for further legal action. SRB-9 stated that its operations to prevent crime and maintain law and order are continuing.
